London Technology Week at the forefront of digital innovation

London is at the forefront of digital innovation, with tech giants thriving here as well as dynamic new start-ups – Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.

Silicon Valley must nervously be looking over its shoulder, as tech initiatives in London continue to gain momemtum. Not content with recently deploying Europe’s largest tech accelerator, in the form of Level39, 2014 will see another landmark initiative in the form of London Technology Week. The initiative hosted in East London  will unite the technology and digital community for a week of events and activity and is to take place for the first time in June 2014, as London continues to cement its reputation as a global technology hub. UBM Live, has formed a partnership with London & Partners to create an annual gathering that will harness the increasingly critical role that London plays as a major global technology centre.

London Technology Week will incorporate a broad range of events and activities for the technology and digital community revolving primarily around London’s Tech City and ExCeL London.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “London is at the forefront of digital innovation, with tech giants thriving here as well as dynamic new start-ups. This vibrant sector now supports hundreds of thousands of jobs in our city with potential to massively grow. I welcome the creation of London Technology Week as the latest initiative to harness the buzz around this exciting industry.”

Taking place in the week commencing 16th June 2014, this brand new proposition will provide an opportunity for London to showcase its technology credentials on the world stage reaffirming its position as a place where the world’s leading technology companies want to do business. London Technology Week will engage with a broad range of stakeholders providing a valuable platform to discuss, formulate and promote policy aimed at driving forward the UK’s IT sector. Business leaders and technology professionals will have the opportunity to take part in a multitude of events, from boutique networking opportunities to open days and major events.

Taking place from 17-19 June 2014, Internet World and The Big Data Show serves product and service providers from across the spectrum of online business, covering a range of topics including, digital marketing, ecommerce, cloud, hosting, social media, mobile, content management and big data. Internet World has been bringing the digital community together for more than twenty years while The Big Data Show was launched this year and is designed to help businesses understand and capitalise on the full potential of the data they hold. All of this is being driven by UBM Live.

UBM Live is also due to announce an additional, content-driven event in the coming weeks which will also form part of London Technology Week. The inaugural Tech Transformation Summit will be a forum for high-level discussions of the strategic issues that really matter to today’s business and technology leaders. It will focus on real-world solutions around the opportunities, challenges and advances associated with information and technology infrastructure as it relates to business and wider economic growth.

These events will create a valuable platform to discuss, formulate and promote policy aimed at driving forward this critical sector, whilst also playing a key role in connecting commerce and government.

London & Partners, the Mayor’s official promotional organisation for London, has assisted London Technology Week organisers, UBM Live, with support for using the capital as a venue for the event.
