Cisco and G42 have announced a significant expansion of their partnership aimed at developing secure, end-to-end artificial intelligence infrastructure within the United Arab Emirates. This collaboration is a key component of the broader US-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership, reinforcing the commitment to advancing trusted technology and digital innovation between the two nations.

    Key Takeaways

    • Cisco will provide comprehensive networking, security, and compute solutions for G42’s large-scale AI cluster, which will feature AMD’s advanced MI350X GPUs.
    • The partnership emphasizes the integration of trusted US technology into G42’s AI infrastructure roadmap, ensuring high standards of security and governance.
    • This initiative supports the UAE’s ambition to become a global leader in AI development and digital transformation.

    Advancing Secure AI Infrastructure

Cisco will play a pivotal role in powering, connecting, and securing a substantial AI cluster being deployed by G42. This cluster will leverage AMD’s cutting-edge MI350X GPUs, integrated with Cisco’s full-stack AI infrastructure. This includes compute, networking, security, storage, optics, and observability tools, designed to deliver scalable performance and unified management for demanding AI workloads.

Furthermore, Cisco will serve as the technology integrator within G42’s Regulated Technology Environment (RTE). The RTE is a stringent compliance and security framework designed to ensure the highest levels of protection, transparency, and governance for advanced compute infrastructure, preventing unauthorized access or misuse.

Strengthening the US-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership

This expanded collaboration builds upon existing joint efforts under the US–UAE AI Acceleration Partnership. This program is instrumental in advancing bilateral technology goals, including the development of large-scale AI clusters like the 1GW Stargate UAE cluster and the planned 5GW UAE-US AI technology campus.

Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42, highlighted the deepening trust and technological alignment between the US and UAE, stating, "This collaboration with Cisco represents the next phase of deepening trust and technological alignment between the US and UAE under the AI Acceleration Partnership. It reinforces our shared commitment to building high-performance, secure, sovereign and compliant AI infrastructure that enables global innovation while upholding the highest standards of governance."

Chuck Robbins, Chair and CEO of Cisco, added, "Cisco is proud to deepen our partnership with G42, powering the UAE’s next wave of AI innovation by delivering secure, trusted, high-performance infrastructure. This collaboration strengthens the US-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership and underscores Cisco’s role in the UAE’s digital transformation journey."

    Addressing the AI Capacity Gap

Recent research indicates a significant demand for AI in the UAE, with a large percentage of organizations planning AI agent deployments. However, many face a gap in robust GPU capacity. This partnership aims to bridge that gap by providing scalable and secure AI infrastructure built for growth.

Cisco’s end-to-end AI-ready data center solution encompasses compute, networking, security, automation, and optics. The deployment will feature Cisco UCS servers with AMD MI350X GPUs, high-speed Nexus 9K switches, VAST AI Operating System, Firepower next-generation firewalls, and Nexus Dashboard and Intersight for management. Cisco Advanced Services will also be involved in planning, design, and implementation.

G42 and Cisco will collaborate closely with relevant US government agencies to secure necessary licenses and regulatory approvals for the deployment, which is anticipated to proceed in the coming months.
