After graduating from Perry Hall High School, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from McDaniel College (then Western Maryland College), followed by a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
But his education didn’t stop there. Pommett pursued an LL.M. in International and Comparative Law at Georgetown University Law Center, deepening his grasp of global legal systems—a foundation that would later influence his work across multiple U.S. jurisdictions and even inform his perspective on British common law traditions.
“I was always fascinated by how different legal frameworks interact,” he reflects. “Even working in Maryland, I found myself referencing international case law or comparative doctrines. That broader lens has helped me bring new ideas to the table.”
Early Career and Federal Insight
Francis Pommett’s first professional step came at the prestigious U.S. Department of Justice, where he clerked in the Solicitor General’s Office. This rare experience exposed him to federal appellate advocacy, including cases argued before the U.S. Supreme Court.
“It was intense and humbling,” he recalls. “There’s no substitute for sitting behind the scenes of cases that shape national law. It taught me the power of words—and the weight of responsibility that comes with them.”
This foundation shaped his legal tone: respectful, strategic, and rooted in constitutional reasoning. It also reinforced a commitment to clarity—a trait that would follow him into every courtroom he entered.
Building His Practice on Real-World Needs
In 2017, Pommett founded the Law Offices of Francis A. Pommett III, LLC, located in Baltimore’s Highlandtown neighborhood. The firm focuses on personal injury, nursing home abuse, and insurance litigation, with Pommett having recovered over $100 million in verdicts and settlements for clients across Maryland, Virginia, New York, Florida, and Hawaii.
But Pommett’s work isn’t just about numbers. It’s about protecting people at their most vulnerable—victims of neglect, injury, or mistreatment. His day-to-day includes everything from representing grieving families to handling high-stakes appellate arguments.
“There’s a misconception that personal injury law is just about car accidents,” he says. “But it’s about accountability. It’s about standing up when someone’s life has been altered—and making sure they’re not alone.”
He’s argued in Circuit Courts across Maryland, the U.S. District Court, and even been admitted pro hac vice in multiple states, showing his adaptability and commitment to bringing the best possible legal approach to each case.

Beyond litigation, Pommett is also a licensed associate broker with Blue Star Real Estate, specializing in distressed and estate properties. He’s been appointed by the Orphans’ Court for Baltimore City as a personal representative for dozens of delinquent estates.
This intersection of real estate and law has allowed him to support underserved communities—especially those caught in bureaucratic limbo after a death in the family.
“A lot of people don’t know where to start when a relative passes without a will,” he explains. “I’ve made it my mission to help navigate that system with empathy and efficiency.”

Outside of law, Pommett is deeply involved in the St. Ursula Catholic Church, 4-H youth programs, and local girls’ soccer leagues. He also mentors young professionals and has been recognized by the EMRWM Chamber of Commerce and nominated for a Jaycees Leadership Award.
His approach to community mirrors his legal philosophy: be present, listen carefully, and lead by example.
“I’ve never been interested in self-promotion,” he says. “If my work speaks for itself, that’s enough for me.”

Though rooted in Maryland, Pommett’s academic focus on international law and global case exposure has given his work a broader perspective. He maintains professional relationships across the U.S. and has collaborated on cross-jurisdictional matters, giving him an appreciation for international legal influences—including the UK legal tradition.
“In many ways, the UK’s legal system is the backbone of ours,” he notes. “My LL.M. studies helped me understand how legal ideas evolve globally. It’s all connected.”

“To me, success is when someone walks into my office scared and confused—and leaves feeling like they’ve got someone in their corner,” he says.
