Page Rank determines a quality web page through external links. The underlying assumption is that a web page that has several other high-quality sites linking to it is a signal that it is also a high-quality page.
Google would scan web pages for links. Let’s say that Site A has a lot of sites linking to it. It’s seen as a high-quality site.
Site A has a link to Site B. Site B gets some of the authority that Site A carries, so Site B gets seen as more important.
Therefore, it should get preferential treatment in search results. The ideas in this paper allowed Google to separate itself from other search engines.
Internal links have a similar impact. If Page A has external links on it and it links to Page B on your site, Page B gets some of those benefits. That’s what SEOs call “link juice.”

You’re probably wondering if Google still relies on Page Rank since it came out more than 20 years ago. Yes, and no.
Google let the patent for Page Rank expire in 2018 without renewing it. It surprised many in the SEO community. A former Google employee noted that the tool wasn’t used since 2006.

The further your site is from these seed sites, the less authority your website carries.

Tips to Improve Your Page Rank Results
If you want to improve Page Rank, you should start with some of the other ranking factors first. This will make it easier to improve your Page Rank over time.
Website performance is a ranking factor. Run your site through Google’s Page Speed Test to make sure it’s fast and ready for traffic.
Check the HTML tags throughout your site. This is critical because search engine bots read these tags to determine the content, context, and indexing of your site.
The easiest way to do this is to install an SEO plugin like Yoast or All-in-One SEO. These plugins will guide you through the process.
Check Your Domain Authority
SEO professionals used to rely on a toolbar that would tell them a site’s Page Rank. That’s gone away, but there are other tools you can use to check your backlinks.
This is done by checking a site’s domain authority score. This metric was created by Moz to gauge how a site would rank in search results.
Sites get ranked on a scale of 0-100. A high score means you’re more likely to rank high in search results. This is also used as a tool to target sites for backlinks.
Check your current backlinks and use a domain authority checker for your DA score. You can use it to compare your site to your competitors.
Anchor Text Analysis
The text that hyperlinks to another page is the anchor text. This gives the search engine context as to what the page is about.
Check the external and internal links to your site. You don’t want to have the same keyword for every link. That comes across as spam and could get your site penalized.
