Hong Wei Liao’s career has been shaped by movement, observation, and long-term thinking. Born in Hunan, China, she grew up in a culture that valued education, effort, and collective progress. “Living in more than one system teaches you patience,” Liao says. “You learn that progress looks different depending on where you stand.”
That perspective would later define how she approached leadership, strategy, and service.
Building a platform around people, not products
Liao’s professional journey took a decisive turn when she became deeply involved in serving high-net-worth individuals and global families. Rather than focusing on isolated services, she saw a wider gap. Clients needed coordination, education, and trusted guidance across multiple areas of life.
That insight led her to spearhead the development of Botrich Inc. and later the Botrich Family Wealth Heritage and Development Center, headquartered in Toronto with reach across major Canadian provinces.
“My focus was never just wealth,” she explains. “It was about helping people make sense of complexity.”
Under her leadership, Botrich evolved into a platform that connects certified professionals across wealth management, taxation, legal affairs, and health and wellness. The goal was clarity and continuity, not quick solutions.
Leading through ideas and structure
As Chairman of the Botrich Family Wealth Heritage and Development Center, Liao has emphasized structure over speed. She has often spoken about the importance of compliant, forward-looking planning in an increasingly transparent global environment.
That theme was central to her featured presentation at the 2025 Global CEO Wealth & Tax Strategy Summit, co-hosted by Botrich Inc. and a globally recognized 5A-level tax advisory group.
“In today’s world, transparency is not optional,” Liao said during the summit. “Preparation and compliance are no longer defensive tools. They are part of responsible leadership.”
Her presentation focused on international financial trends, family wealth planning in Canada, and cross-border tax compliance, including the global implications of the Common Reporting Standard. Rather than technical detail, she emphasized mindset.
“You cannot build a legacy by reacting,” she noted. “You build it by planning ahead.”
A connector in global conversations
Beyond formal leadership roles, Liao has become known for convening people. Botrich regularly hosts exclusive events and expert-led lectures that bring together professionals, business leaders, and community voices.

Liao’s work has been recognized through a series of public honors that reflect sustained contribution rather than single achievements. She received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013 and the Platinum Jubilee Pin in 2022 for outstanding contributions to Canada. In 2025, she was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for community excellence.
She has also been recognized by UNICEF for continued philanthropic support and received multiple acknowledgments from Members of Parliament for leadership and community service.
“These honors remind me that responsibility grows with opportunity,” she says. “You are always accountable to more than yourself.”
Commitment beyond business
Philanthropy has remained a consistent thread in Liao’s career. She is deeply passionate about youth education and women’s leadership. She serves as Life Honorary Chair for the Canada Youth Funding Association and the North America United Global Women’s Association.
To her, these roles are extensions of the same principle that guides her professional work.
“Education and leadership are long-term investments,” she says. “You may not see results right away, but the impact lasts.”

“Big ideas only matter if you build the structure to support them,” she says.
