IntelligentHQ.com in partnership with Groupe INSEEC London presents: Business and Personal Growth Coaching Series By Richard Weaver.
Helping business owners, directors and investors address their business issues, take on the challenges, improve results, secure funding and kick start growth.
Starting on the long journey to concieving then launching a sucessful business, can be rewarding if you succeed, but there are many twists and turns in the road ahead. Within the last couple of years, there are many examples of celebrity entrepeneurs to draw inspiration from. After all, if they can do it why not you?. The thing is, it is critical to focus on actually getting things right at launch, rather than distracting yourself by the prospect of becoming the next ‘Startup Darling’. To put it another way, the desire to become an entrepreneur should never be actually stronger than the desire to run a business.
If you can get the building blocks right at the outset in this regard, you might just make it. Robert Jordan runs two companies: RedFlash, a corporate development team; and The Association of Interim Executives, which champions interim management as its own global specialty. Writing in a Forbes article he suggests that if starting a business, You don’t even need to know it all:
“Great entrepreneurs are not afraid to acknowledge they don’t know it all. More powerfully, the ability to act without full information can be a strength when you want to start a business”
In his 7 Reasons Why Most Entrepreneurs Fail in Business article, Tito Philips Jnr writes:
“The entrepreneur on the path to failure is the one who would never launch out because of the fear of failure, being laughed at, losing money, being called crazy etc. Daring the un-dared for the sake of making change happen is the essence of entrepreneurship and it means looking your fear in the eye and stepping out in spite of it. Don’t allow fear of failure hold you back, do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain”.
You also need to, as Richard suggest in this video have the following points embedded in your mind at the outset:
· identify the risks
· have a plan of action
· Set your priorities/write business plan
· ‘Fish in the right pools’
